RRI.CO.ID, Jakarta - A new direct air route linking central China and Southeast Asia has been launched, marking a milestone in regional connectivity between Wuhan and Jakarta.
The inaugural flight, MF8683, departed from Wuhan Tianhe International Airport at 4:40 p.m. local time (3:40 p.m. Jakarta time) on Sunday, April 12, 2026, carrying more than 150 passengers en route to Soekarno-Hatta International Airport, Antara reported.
This marks the first direct air connection between the two cities, filling a gap in passenger capacity while enhancing travel efficiency.
The route is operated using a Boeing 737-800 MAX and will run four times weekly, on Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays, and Sundays.
According to airport authorities, the new service is expected to strengthen Wuhan’s position as a regional aviation hub and further expand its route network to Southeast Asia, while improving connectivity with one of Indonesia’s key urban centers. ***
