RRI.CO.ID, Jakarta - A community run organized by Indonesians living in Tunisia has highlighted efforts to promote healthy lifestyles abroad while strengthening cultural and historical connections among the diaspora.

The event, Run-Mu, not only celebrated healthy living but also carried historical resonance, tracing a route from Muhammad V Street to Sukarno Street as a tribute to Indonesia’s founding father.

Indonesian Ambassador to Tunisia Zuhairi Misrawi joined the 5-kilometer run on Sunday, April 12, 2025, to commemorate the 10th anniversary of the Muhammadiyah Special Branch Leadership (PCIM) Tunisia.

“We are delighted that PCIM Tunisia organized this morning run to promote a culture of healthy living, especially among students,” Zuhairi said in a press release from the Indonesian Embassy in Tunis, Monday, April 13, as quoted by Antara.

He stressed that cultivating healthy habits is vital preparation for young Indonesians before returning home to serve the nation. Zuhairi also encouraged the Indonesian Student Association (PPI) Tunisia to hold similar activities regularly, noting their benefits for the community’s well-being.

Beyond health, he underlined the event’s ideological and historical meaning. “Starting from Muhammad V Street to Sukarno Street in Tunis, this run honors Bung Karno’s legacy while embracing the vision of nationalism and humanity,” he explained.

The run concluded with a ribbon-cutting ceremony led by Ambassador Zuhairi and PCIM Tunisia Chairman Naufal Shalahuddin. “We hope this marks the beginning of a series of programs celebrating PCIM Tunisia’s decade, to be followed by academic, cultural, and sports activities,” Naufal said. ***
