RRI.CO.ID, Jakarta - Indonesia has strongly condemned Israel’s recent attacks on multiple areas in Lebanon, including Beirut, warning of growing risks to regional and global security as civilian casualties mount.

In a statement posted on X on Thursday, April 9, 20267, Indonesian Ministry of Foreign Affairs described the strikes as a serious violation of international law, including international humanitarian law, Antara reported.

The attacks, which reportedly caused civilian deaths and infrastructure damage, also “risk escalating regional tensions that could threaten global security", the ministry said.

Indonesia called on Israel to immediately halt the volence and aggression in Lebanon, stressing the importance of protecting civilians and civilian infrastructure in line with international law.

The government also urged all parties involved in the conflict to exercise restraint, pursue de-escalation, prioritize dialogue, and avoid actions that could worsen the situation.

The condemnation comes as large-scale airstrikes were reported in Beirut on Wednesday, April 8, 2026, marking what has been described as the largest wave of attacks since the conflict escalated on March 2.

At least 254 people have reportedly been killed, including 92 in Beirut.

The escalation followed a two-week ceasefire agreement announced Tuesday between the United States and Iran. Tehran said the deal included a halt to attacks in Lebanon.

However, Washington stated that the agreement does not cover the Lebanon conflict, with U.S. President Donald Trump describing it as a “separate conflict.” ***
