RRI.CO.ID. Jakarta - Following the escalation of Israeli violence in the Jerusalem area, many countries and international organizations have voiced their concern and outrage.

The Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), the League of Arab States (LAS), and the African Union Commission (AUC) have issued a joint statement condemning the actions of Israeli occupation government minister Itamar Ben-Gvir, who stormed the Al-Aqsa Mosque in Jerusalem under tight protection from Israeli forces. The action is seen as a provocation to Muslims worldwide and an opened assault on the sanctity of the mosque.

The three organizations viewed Ben-Gvir's actions as a flagrant violation of international resolutions and covenants, and they warned of the gravity of the situation. The Israeli occupation forces have closed the Al-Aqsa Mosque to Muslim worshippers for the 40th consecutive day, which is part of an escalation of violations against Islamic and Christian holy sites in occupied Jerusalem.

The OIC, LAS, and AUC affirmed that Israel has no sovereignty over Palestinian territory occupied since 1967, including East Jerusalem, which is the capital of the State of Palestine. They reject all illegal Israeli decisions and measures aimed at changing the status of the Holy City and undermining Palestinian sovereignty.

The organizations stressed the need to preserve the historical and legal status of the Al-Aqsa Mosque as a place of worship exclusively for Muslims. They call on the international community, especially the UN Security Council, to compel Israel to respect the right to freedom of worship and the sanctity of holy places.

The three organizations also reaffirmed their support for the inalienable rights of the Palestinian people, including their right to freedom and self-determination. They advocate for the establishment of an independent and sovereign Palestinian state on the borders of June 4, 1967, with East Jerusalem as its capital.

The OIC, LAS, and AUC reiterate their full support for international efforts to implement the two-state solution. They urge the international community to take action to protect the Palestinian people and their holy sites.

The joint statement underscored the importance of preserving peace and stability in the region and calls for an end to Israeli aggression against Palestinian holy sites.
