RRI.CO.ID, Jakarta – The Indonesian government has called for a comprehensive and accountable investigation into the incident that killed three Indonesian Military (TNI) personnel serving as United Nations (UN) peacekeepers in Lebanon. Acting Director of International Security and Peace at the Indonesian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Veronica Vicka Ancilla Rompis, said Indonesia is urging all relevant parties to investigate and prosecute those responsible, and to ensure accountability for crimes against peacekeeping personnel.

“The Indonesian government has urged all relevant parties to investigate and prosecute the perpetrators, and to ensure accountability for the crimes committed against peacekeeping personnel,” Vicka said during a press briefing on Wednesday, April 8, 2026.

According to her, the findings released by the UN are still preliminary. However, if the full investigation confirms these findings, Indonesia will strongly condemn Israel’s actions.

“If the full investigation confirms these preliminary findings, the Indonesian government will strongly condemn Israel for actions that resulted in the deaths and injuries of TNI personnel serving as peacekeepers,” she said.

She emphasized that such actions constitute a serious violation of international law. Indonesia will also request the UN to urge the relevant authorities to investigate, prosecute, and ensure full accountability for those responsible.

Meanwhile, Indonesian Ministry of Foreign Affairs spokesperson Yvonne Mewengkang stated that preliminary UN findings indicate that one of the incidents involved tank fire from the Israeli military. She also noted that, based on information from the UN, two incidents have been reported so far, while Indonesia continues to push for further investigation into other incidents.

On the other hand, the UN, through its spokesperson Stephanie Dujarric, revealed preliminary findings regarding the March 29 incident that killed one TNI personnel. Based on available evidence, including analysis of the impact site and projectile fragments found at UN Position 7-1, the projectile was identified as a 120 mm main tank round fired from an Israeli Defense Forces Merkava tank from the east toward Ett Taibe.
