RRI.CO.ID, Jakarta - Indonesia is working closely with the United Nations to repatriate three of its fallen peacekeepers from Lebanon, as security challenges in the conflict-hit region complicate efforts to bring them home.

The Indonesian government has assured that the repatriation of three Indonesian peacekeepers killed while on duty in Lebanon will be carried out with the utmost care and respect.

According to a statement from the Indonesian Permanent Mission to the United Nations (PTRI) in New York, published on the Ministry of Foreign Affairs official website on Friday, April 3, 2026, a farewell and honors ceremony for the three personnel was held on Thursday, April 2, at Rafic Hariri International Airport in Beirut, Lebanon.

The ceremony was led by the UNIFIL Force Commander as a final tribute to their service and dedication to maintaining global peace.

Indonesia continues to coordinate closely with the United Nations to ensure the repatriation process proceeds swiftly, safely, and smoothly. The return of the remains is expected to take place in the first week of April 2026.

However, the process presents significant challenges due to ongoing conflict in the region. Under normal conditions, travel from Beirut to Jakarta takes at least 17 hours. Currently, intensified hostilities, including increased Israeli attacks in southern Lebanon, have restricted movement and heightened security risks.

The Indonesian government reaffirmed its commitment to ensuring the repatriation is handled properly, describing it as both a final tribute to the fallen soldiers and a responsibility to their families.

The three peacekeepers have been identified as Captain Zulmi Aditya Iskandar, Sergeant Muhammad Nur, and Lance Corporal Farizal Rhomadhon.

Their service reflects Indonesia’s broader commitment to global peacekeeping, as mandated by the 1945 Constitution. The outpouring of condolences and international support highlights the impact of their contributions and the respect they earned on the world stage.
