RRI.CO.ID, Jakarta – Commission I of the Indonesian House of Representatives has highlighted job opportunities for Indonesian Migrant Workers (TKI) in Cyprus, which are considered widely open amid growing demand for labor in various service sectors in the country. Chair of Commission I Utut Adianto said the opportunities were revealed during a meeting with the Ambassador of Cyprus to Indonesia at the Nusantara III Building, DPR RI, Senayan, Jakarta, on Wednesday, April 1, 2026.
“It was conveyed that job opportunities are open. Currently, many positions are filled by workers from the Philippines, both in yachts, ships, and the public service sector,” Utut said.
He explained that employment opportunities for Indonesian workers cover various sectors, such as public services, maritime (ships), and the tourism industry, including yachts.
According to him, Indonesia has an advantage in service quality, which can be an added value in competing in the international labor market.
“We actually have an advantage in terms of service. Indonesians are known to be friendly and capable of providing good service,” he said.
However, he emphasized the need to improve human resource capacity, particularly in foreign language proficiency, especially English.
“One of our shortcomings is language skills, especially English. This is something we must prepare going forward,” he added.
Furthermore, Utut noted that follow-up cooperation in the labor sector requires coordination across ministries and institutions, including the Ministry of Manpower, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and the Indonesian Chamber of Commerce and Industry.
He expressed hope that these opportunities in Cyprus can be utilized optimally through the preparation of competent workers who meet market demands, thereby enhancing the competitiveness of Indonesian workers at the global level.
