RRI.CO.ID, Jakarta - The Indonesian Military (TNI) have awarded posthumous promotions and financial support to three soldiers who lost their lives while serving on the United Nations peacekeeping mission in Lebanon.

The fallen soldiers are Captain Zulmi Aditya Iskandar, Sergeant Muhammad Nur Ikhwan, and Lance Corporal (Praka) Farizal Rhomadhon. TNI Commander General Agus Subiyanto announced that each had been granted extraordinary posthumous promotions under the category of “military operations other than war” and awarded the Dag Hammarskjold Medal, a UN honor for peacekeepers who die in service.

“The three soldiers who fell received extraordinary promotions and the Dag Hammarskjold Medal,” Agus said in a press statement on Wednesday, April 1, 2026, as quoted by Antara.

In addition to the honors, their families will receive compensation from both the TNI and the United Nations, including education scholarships for their children and other entitlements. Captain Zulmi’s family will receive IDR 1.894 billion (USD 111.626), Sergeant Nur Ikhwan’s family IDR 1.846 billion, and Praka Rhomadhon’s family IDR 1.854 billion.

“Families will also receive continued salaries for 12 months, covering base pay, allowances, and position benefits, followed by widow pensions once the extended salary payments conclude,” Agus explained.

He expressed hope that the support would ease the financial burden on the families. Meanwhile, the TNI headquarters has not yet identified the perpetrators or motives behind the attacks and is awaiting the results of an investigation by the United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL).

The three soldiers died in late March 2026 while carrying out their mission in southern Lebanon. According to TNI data, Farizal Rhomadhon was killed by indirect artillery fire near Adchit Al Qusayr on March 29, while Zulmi Aditya Iskandar and Muhammad Nur Ikhwan were killed in a vehicle explosion near Bani Haiyyan on March 30.

The recognition reflects Indonesia’s commitment to honoring the sacrifices of its peacekeepers while continuing to support their families in the aftermath of tragedy. ***
