Vice Defense Minister Attends Reception Aboard Russian Corvette in Jakarta

RRI.CO.ID, Jakarta - The Vice Minister of Defense of the Republic of Indonesia, Donny Ermawan Taufanto, attended an invitation and paid a courtesy visit to a Russian Navy warship docked at the Ex-President Pier, Tanjung Priok, North Jakarta, Tuesday, 31 March 2026. The visit was part of the friendship mission of the Russian Pacific Fleet Detachment in Indonesia.

Upon arrival at the pier, the Vice Minister was welcomed with a ceremonial honour guard typical of Russian sailors before proceeding to visit the submarine Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky. After the technical walkthrough, he attended a reception aboard the corvette Gromkiy at the invitation of Rear Admiral Evgenii Myasoedov.

In his remarks, Rear Admiral Evgenii Myasoedov expressed warm appreciation for the hospitality of the Indonesian people and government. He emphasized that, despite being geographically distant, Russia and Indonesia are united by shared values of justice and a common commitment to maintaining security stability in the Asia-Pacific region.

“Russia and Indonesia continue to strive to expand military cooperation. We are very impressed by the hospitality of the people here, which is a strong foundation for the friendship between our two countries,” Evgenii Myasoedov conveyed.

The reception also featured demonstrations and concluded with an exchange of souvenirs as a symbol of strengthening defense cooperation and maritime diplomacy between the two countries, which is strengthening steadily.

The three warships of the Russian Federation Navy (RFN) docked at Pier IKT Ex-President, Tanjung Priok, North Jakarta, on Sunday, 29 March 2026. The three ships are the RFS Gromkiy corvette, the RFS Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky submarine, and the ocean tug RFS Andrey Stefanov.

According to the Head of the Indonesian Navy Information Service, First Admiral TNI Tunggul, this visit is part of naval diplomacy, as well as technical synchronization and coordination in preparation for the joint exercise Orruda.

This agenda also represents a continuation of the commitment between Indonesia and Russia to strengthen maritime defense cooperation. The visit of the three ships takes place from 29 March 29 to 2 April 2026.
