RRI.CO.ID. Jakarta - The Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) has welcomed the adoption of several resolutions on the question of Palestine by the United Nations Human Rights Council during its 61st session. The session, held in Geneva from February 23, 2026, to March 31, 2026, saw the adoption of key resolutions addressing the human rights situation in Palestine.

One of the adopted resolutions is titled “Human rights situation in the Occupied Palestinian Territory, including East Jerusalem and the obligation to ensure accountability and justice“. This resolution aligns with ICJ Advisory opinions and Provisional Measures, reaffirming the Commission of Inquiry’s mandate to report on the transfer or sale of arms to Israel.

Another resolution adopted is “Israeli settlements in the Occupied Palestinian Territory, including East Jerusalem, and in the occupied Syrian Golan“. This resolution affirms that Israel’s settlement policy is a serious violation of international law, including the Fourth Geneva Convention.

The resolution also reinstates the Commission of Inquiry’s mandate to report on settlers engaged in acts of violence against Palestinian civilians and actions taken by Israel and third States to ensure accountability.

The Human Rights Council also adopted a resolution titled “Right of the Palestinian people to self-determination, reaffirming the inalienable right of the Palestinian people to self-determination. The Council called on all States to support the Palestinian people in exercising this right.

Additionally, the Council adopted a resolution titled “Human rights in the occupied Syrian Golan“, underscoring systematic human rights violations committed against Syrian citizens in the occupied Syrian Golan and calling for accountability.

The OIC's welcome of these resolutions highlights the international community's focus on addressing human rights issues in Palestine and promoting accountability for violations of international law
