RRI.CO.ID, Tokyo – Cabinet Secretary, Teddy Indra Wijaya, stated that President Prabowo Subianto held meetings with the Emperor and Crown Prince of Japan, followed by a Business Forum on his first day in Japan. He conveyed this during a press statement in Tokyo, Japan, on Monday, March 30, 2026.
Teddy said the first item on the agenda was a meeting with Emperor Naruhito and Crown Prince Fumihito, which took about two hours at the Imperial Palace, including a joint lunch. One of the main topics discussed during the bilateral meeting was forest protection and environmental conservation.
“Essentially, we discussed various forms of cooperation and ways to enhance cooperation between the Indonesian and Japanese governments. What was particularly interesting was the discussion on forest protection and environmental conservation,” Teddy said.
The Cabinet Secretary explained that the agenda continued with a business forum attended by President Prabowo Subianto. He said the forum resulted in a major investment agreement from the Japanese government and private sector worth Rp380 trillion or USD23 billion.
Teddy said, “The main point of the business forum is the cooperation between Indonesia and Japan, as well as Japanese government and private-sector investments in Indonesia totaling approximately Rp380 trillion.”
About 95% of that investment value is channeled through the energy and mineral resources sector. Further details were provided by Minister of Investment and Downstreaming, Rosan Roeslani and Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources, Bahlil Lahadalia.
On March 31, 2026, the President is scheduled to meet with Japanese Prime Minister Sanae Takeichi. Additionally, a special meeting will be held with Japan’s 12 largest business leaders. This series of activities reinforces Indonesia’s position as a trusted global investment magnet among international partners.
