RRI.CO.ID, Tokyo – Indonesian Minister of Tourism, Widiyanti Putri Wardhana, held a bilateral meeting with Juichi Hirasawa, Senior Executive Vice President of All Nippon Airways (ANA), and President & CEO-elect as of April 1, 2026, in Tokyo, Japan. The meeting aimed to strengthen air connectivity between Indonesia and Japan and open up new flight route opportunities to various tourist destinations in Indonesia.
During the meeting, the Minister of Tourism expressed her appreciation for ANA's role in supporting connectivity between the two countries through its Tokyo-Jakarta flight service, which has long been a key pillar of tourist mobility and people-to-people exchange between Indonesia and Japan.
The Indonesian government also encouraged ANA to explore developing new routes to other destinations in Indonesia, including Yogyakarta, known as the center of Javanese culture and the gateway to the Borobudur World Heritage Site,
and supported by Yogyakarta International Airport (YIA), which is capable of serving wide-body aircraft.

Furthermore, connectivity development can be expanded from major Japanese cities like Osaka, providing Japanese tourists with more access options to reach Indonesia's top destinations.
The Minister also affirmed that air connectivity is a key factor in strengthening tourist flows and tourism cooperation between the two countries. "We see significant opportunities to expand connectivity between Indonesia and Japan, not only through Jakarta but also to other destinations like Yogyakarta. Strengthening this connectivity will open wider access for Japanese tourists to enjoy Indonesia's rich culture, nature, and quality tourism experiences," the Minister conveyed.
The meeting also discussed opportunities for collaborative tourism promotion between the Ministry of Tourism and ANA, including through familiarization trip programs for Japanese travel agents, media outlets, and influencers to increase exposure of Indonesian destinations in the Japanese market. Furthermore, promotional opportunities can be explored through utilizing ANA's various promotional platforms, such as in-flight magazines, digital channels, and the ANA Mileage Club network, to expand promotional reach.
These efforts are expected to be integrated with the national "Wonderful Indonesia" campaign, including through participation in various tourism events in Japan, such as Tourism Expo Japan.
Through this meeting, Indonesia affirmed its commitment to strengthening collaboration between the tourism sector and the aviation industry as a crucial part of driving growth in tourist visits and strengthening ties between the two countries' people.
