RRI.CO.ID, Melbourne — Indonesia has once again participated in the Melbourne International Coffee Expo 2026 (MICE), held from March 26–28, 2026 at the Melbourne Convention and Exhibition Centre. This marks the country’s fourth consecutive participation in the event.

The Indonesia Pavilion features several coffee businesses under the Indonesian Coffee Association (ASKI), including GravFarms Indonesia, Canaya Geothermal Coffee Producers (supported by PT Pertamina Geothermal Energy), and Bang Raden Coffee (part of PT Sabani International), as well as a representative of specialty Arabica coffee from Papua Highlands through Papua Black Gold Coffee, supported by PT Freeport Indonesia.

In addition to coffee products, the Indonesia Pavilion also showcases innovation in coffee waste processing through Bell Living Lab (PT Kurva Lonceng Khatulistiwa), which develops sustainable materials for fashion, furniture, and interior applications from organic coffee waste. The opening of the Indonesia Pavilion on March 26, 2026, was attended by Indonesian Ambassador to Australia, Siswo Pramono and Indonesian Consul General in Melbourne, Yohannes Jatmiko Heru Prasetyo.

In his remarks, Ambassador Siswo Pramono, affirmed the importance of strengthening global partnerships, encouraging business actors to explore trade opportunities, and promoting innovation and sustainability in Indonesia’s coffee industry. Meanwhile, the Indonesian Consul General in Melbourne highlighted the strategic value of Indonesia’s participation in the largest coffee exhibition in the Asia-Pacific region, as well as the importance of increasing the penetration of downstream Indonesian coffee products in the Melbourne and Victoria markets.

On the second day, Indonesia participated in the “Trip to Origin” session, one of MICE’s flagship programs. During this session, participants presented their company profiles and product advantages, and conducted coffee cupping sessions to introduce the distinctive flavors of Indonesian coffee to international buyers and industry players.

This activity is considered to provide strategic opportunities to expand business networks and enhance global market understanding of the diversity and quality of Indonesian coffee.

Furthermore, the implementation of the Indonesia–Australia Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement is seen as providing a strong foundation for strengthening economic relations between the two countries. Over the past five years, total trade in goods and services between Indonesia and Australia has increased significantly, from AUD 13.3 billion in 2020 to AUD 31.3 billion in 2025.

Data from the Australian Bureau of Statistics shows that Indonesia’s coffee exports to the state of Victoria reached AUD 9.77 million between July 2024 and September 2025, dominated by green coffee beans.

Indonesia’s participation in MICE is also considered to contribute to export growth. During the 2025 event, the Indonesian Consulate General in Melbourne recorded 53 potential transactions with a total value of AUD 2.39 million.
