Middle East Tensions Not Affecting Hajj Pilgrimage: Saudi Arabian Ambassador

RRI.CO.ID, Jakarta - Saudi Arabian Ambassador to Indonesia Faisal Abdullah Al Amoudi emphasized that tensions in the Middle East will not affect the Hajj pilgrimage. He made the statement during a press conference in Jakarta on Tuesday, March 24, 2026.

“Regarding current events or matters related to the Hajj, everything is proceeding as planned by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, and all will run smoothly,” Ambassador Faisal said.

He also noted that Saudi Arabia remains safe despite the ongoing conflict involving Iran, Israel, and the United States. “We would like to convey that, thank God, the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia remains safe to this day,” he added.

Meanwhile, the Indonesian government confirmed that the departure schedule for Indonesian Hajj pilgrims to Saudi Arabia this year remains unchanged.

Minister of Hajj and Umrah Mochamad Irfan Yusuf stated that, if everything proceeds as planned, departures will begin in late April. He assured that funding support is ready as needed and noted that direct flights to Saudi Arabia remain available and unaffected by the evolving geopolitical situation.

The conflict in the Middle East began with attacks involving Iran and the United States on February 28, 2026. The fighting continues and has damaged vital infrastructure in several countries in the region.

The United Nations Security Council adopted Resolution No. 2817 on March 11, calling on Iran to immediately cease attacks or actions that could escalate tensions in the region.(Gusti Panji/Lasti Martina)
