Indonesian Embassy in Tokyo to Hold Eid Prayer on Saturday at MIT and SIT

RRI.CO.ID, Tokyo - The Indonesian Embassy in Tokyo confirmed Eid al-Fitr prayer arrangements for Indonesian communities living in Japan. The update was announced in Tokyo on Thursday, March 19, 2026, following the official moon sighting decision. The event will take place on Saturday, March 21, 2026, in line with the confirmed isbat result.
The embassy is organizing the event in collaboration with the Indonesian Muslim Community in Japan to support community worship. The schedule was finalized after the isbat result by the Rukyat-e-Hilal Committee of Japan. The decision officially confirms the start of 1 Syawal 1447 Hijri for Muslims in Japan.
The prayer will be held at Masjid Indonesia Tokyo and Sekolah Indonesia Tokyo as the main venues. The location is at 4 Chome-6-6 Meguro, Meguro City, Tokyo, Japan. The venue is prepared to accommodate Indonesian worshippers in Japan in an orderly and safe manner.
The organizers will implement multiple prayer sessions to manage large attendance effectively during the Eid celebration. A total of five sessions are scheduled throughout the morning period for participants. Each session is designed to ensure orderly, safe, and comfortable worship for all participants.
The committee urged participants to register in advance through the provided link or QR code system. Registration aims to prevent overcrowding during the prayer event at the venue. It also supports better crowd management and ensures safety measures are properly implemented.
Technical arrangements for the Eid prayer are as follows:
- Prayer will be held at Masjid Indonesia Tokyo and Balai Indonesia
- Elderly and disabled worshippers will pray at Balai Indonesia, first floor
- Male worshippers will pray inside MIT and Balai Indonesia, second floor
- Female worshippers will pray at Balai Indonesia, second floor
- Congregation follows first come, first served system
- Each session lasts around 30 minutes
- Interval between sessions is 30 minutes, except 15 minutes between sessions four and five
- Worshippers are asked to leave promptly after khutbah ends
General guidelines for participants include:
- Maintain order, safety, cleanliness, and comfort during the entire event
- Follow instructions from officers at the location during the event
- Avoid smoking except in designated areas set by Japanese authorities
- Keep noise levels low while staying in surrounding public areas
- Maintain cleanliness throughout the entire prayer environment and facilities
Participants are also advised to prepare personal necessities before arriving at the prayer venue. Worshippers should perform ablution from home due to limited facilities at the location. They are also asked to bring a bag for footwear and a personal prayer mat.
The Indonesian Embassy also reminded participants to follow all regulations and maintain public order during the event. Worshippers are encouraged to uphold safety, orderliness, cleanliness, and comfort throughout the activity. These principles aim to ensure a smooth, respectful, and well-organized Eid prayer experience for all attendees.
