RRI.CO.ID, Jakarta - Saudi Arabia has reaffirmed its commitment to diplomacy and restraint as tensions rise in the Middle East, according to Saudi Ambassador to Indonesia, Faisal bin Abdullah Al-Amudi.

The ambassador said that the Kingdom continues to pursue diplomatic efforts while avoiding retaliatory strikes against Iran. “We are committed to restraint. We seek to resolve this calmly and peacefully,” he stated during a Ramadan gathering with Indonesian journalists on Friday evening, March 13, 2026, as quoted by Antara.

He said Saudi Arabia has made clear from the outset that its territory would not be used to launch attacks against Iran. He condemned Israel’s actions, noting that the initial strikes on Iran were carried out by the United States and Israel.

Despite this, Iran has launched counterattacks on Gulf states, including Saudi Arabia, targeting public facilities and key political sites. Faisal described these actions as violations of international law and principles of good neighborliness.

Addressing the economic impact of regional instability, Faisal said Saudi Arabia would work to stabilize global oil prices. “We understand that war affects both the economy and energy markets. Our principle is to maintain stability,” he explained.

On the upcoming Hajj season, Faisal assured that preparations remain on track and unaffected by the tensions. “Preparations are proceeding smoothly as planned, and flights carrying pilgrims to Saudi Arabia will continue according to schedule,” he said, urging Indonesians not to worry.

He stressed that Saudi Arabia remains safe and calm, and that the Kingdom is committed to ensuring the pilgrimage takes place without disruption. ***
