RRI.CO.ID, Jakarta - As Palestinians continue to face a humanitarian emergency in Gaza, the Indonesian National Zakat Agency (Baznas) has distributed 74,228 portions of iftar meals during Ramadan 1447 Hijriah. The initiative reflects Indonesia’s commitment to providing comfort and solidarity during one of the most difficult periods for Gaza’s residents.
Deputy II of Baznas RI, Imdadun Rahmat, explained that the meals were delivered across several areas in Gaza -- including Khan Yunis, Deir al-Balah, Al Mawasi, Al Musaddar, and Al Buraij -- reaching refugee tents and communities most affected by the crisis.
“We hope this program allows the people of Gaza to feel warmth and comfort during Ramadan as they break their fast with freshly prepared meals,” he said in a statement from Jakarta on Friday, March 13, 2026, as quoted by Antara.
Imdadun noted that distributing food during Ramadan has become an annual agenda for Baznas, ensuring that Palestinians can meet their basic needs during the holy month. He emphasized Baznas’s ongoing commitment to supporting communities impacted by conflict and disaster, including in Palestine.
“We also thank the Indonesian people who have entrusted their humanitarian contributions through Baznas. We guarantee that this aid is delivered to the right recipients,” he added.
Beyond iftar meals, Baznas has also rolled out additional humanitarian programs for Gaza during Ramadan, including food packages, healthcare services, clean water, clothing, shelter tents, blankets, mosque tents, and classroom tents for children. “God willing, these efforts will bring blessings to us all. Baznas, representing the Indonesian people, will continue to be present to bring joy in difficult times. We want them to feel they are not alone,” Imdadun said. ***
