RRI.CO.ID, Jakarta - Indonesia showcased its growing food and beverage industry at The 51st International Food and Beverages Exhibition (Foodex Japan 2026), held at Tokyo Big Sight from March 10–13. The country’s participation was coordinated by the Indonesian Embassy in Tokyo in collaboration with the Ministry of Trade, Ministry of Industry, Bank Indonesia Tokyo, and the ASEAN-Japan Centre (AJC).
A total of 28 Indonesian businesses joined the Indonesia Pavilion, including 15 companies curated by the Ministry of Trade and 13 small and medium enterprises (SMEs) under Bank Indonesia’s Karya Kreatif Indonesia (KKI) program. These SMEs represented diverse regions such as West Java, Banten, Jakarta, East Java, Central Java, Yogyakarta, West Sumatra, Lampung, and West Papua.
“Indonesia views Foodex Japan as a vital platform to expand its footprint in Japan and globally,” Deputy Chief of Mission at the Indonesian Embassy in Tokyo, Maria Renata Hutagalung, said during the pavilion’s opening, as quoted on the Minstry of Foreign Affairs official website.
She highlighted that Indonesia’s food, beverage, and agricultural exports to Japan reached USD 2.13 billion in 2025, marking a 5 percent increase from the previous year. “This year, our pavilion features 28 outstanding companies and SMEs. Japan remains a key partner, with bilateral trade ties growing stronger.”
The opening ceremony was attended by Trade Attaché Merry Astrid Indriasari, Head of Bank Indonesia Tokyo Imaduddin Sahabat, ASEAN-Japan Centre Secretary General Kunihiko Hirabayashi, and ITPC Osaka Deputy Head Andi Camelia.
Indonesia’s strong presence at the exhibition was underscored by the signing of seven purchase agreements between Indonesian exhibitors -- including CV Hortindo Agrifarm, PT Mayora Tbk, PT Dua Kelinci, Helda’s Snack, Sila Artisan Tea, and Arva Tempe Chips -- and Japanese buyers. The deals covered frozen agricultural products, traditional snacks, confectionery, and tempe-based foods.
The pavilion featured a wide range of products, from confectionery and bird’s nest products to cocoa-based goods, premium teas, traditional snacks, processed foods, agricultural derivatives, and herbal drinks. On the second day, a seminar titled Indonesia’s Selected Food & Beverages Products for the Japanese Market brought together Japanese buyers, consultants, and traders to explore new business opportunities.
Organized annually by the Japan Management Association (JMA), Foodex Japan is East Asia’s largest B2B food and beverage trade fair. Each year, it attracts more than 3,000 exhibitors from around the world and over 60,000 visitors, including business leaders, buyers, distributors, professionals, and academics. ***
