RRI.CO.ID, Phnom Penh - The Indonesian Embassy in Phnom Penh became a stage for cultural exchange as kindergarten students from Invictus International School performed Twinkle, Twinkle, Little Star on the angklung -- Indonesia’s traditional bamboo instrument -- during International Day on Thursday, March 12, 2026, aims to introduce children to global cultural diversity from an early age.

Quoting the Indonesian Ministry of Foreign Affairs official website, a total of 28 students took part in the visit to the Indonesian Embassy in Phnom Penh, Cambodia, where they were given a brief introduction to Indonesia’s rich traditions before joining an interactive angklung workshop.

Guided by Martha, a music instructor from the Indonesian Cultural Center (Pusbudi) Nusantara, the children quickly learned to play the instrument together despite it being their first encounter. The lively atmosphere underscored how interactive activities such as music can serve as effective tools for teaching cultural appreciation to young audiences.

The Embassy described the initiative as a positive step in promoting Indonesian culture internationally. With participants hailing not only from Cambodia but also from various countries, the program doubled as an opportunity to foster cross-cultural understanding among children.

By blending play, music, and cultural learning, the event highlighted Indonesia’s commitment to sharing its heritage abroad while nurturing global connections from the earliest stages of education. ***
