Animated Film ‘Jumbo’ Makes History at South Korean Box Office

RRI.CO.ID, Jakarta – The Indonesian animated feature 'Jumbo' has achieved a brilliant milestone by breaking into the South Korean daily box office during its international debut. According to data from the Korean Film Biz Zone (KoBiz), the film soared to sixth place on its opening day, earning $89,722 or approximately 1.5 billion rupiah.
On its premiere on February 18, 2026, a total of 12,648 viewers filled 355 cinema screens across various regions in South Korea. This achievement is considered a very strong start for a foreign film competing within the highly competitive industry of the "Land of the Morning Calm."
This success establishes 'Jumbo' as the first Indonesian animated film to secure a prestigious position on the South Korean box office charts. Beyond the impressive figures, local audiences also praised the film's visual quality and the depth of its storytelling.
