RRI.CO.ID, Jakarta - The Iranian Embassy in Jakarta held a petition signing on Thursday, March 5, 2026, to protest attacks by Israel and the United States. The event also included prayers for the late Supreme Leader of Iran, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, at the ambassador’s residence in Jakarta.

Hundreds of people attended the gathering, which began at 3:00 p.m. local time, including several national figures such as former Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) Chairman (2011–2015) Abraham Samad and former State-Owned Enterprises Ministry Secretary Said Didu.

Said Didu expressed deep sorrow over Khamenei’s passing, describing him as a leader who consistently fought for his country. He also praised Khamenei as both a humanitarian hero and a hero of the Islamic world.

“I believe the whole world sees that we have lost someone who was unwavering in defending his nation, fighting for humanity, and especially for the Muslim community,” Said Didu told RRI during the event.

Former Youth and Sports Minister Roy Suryo also conveyed condolences, offering encouragement to the Iranian people amid the ongoing conflict. “I personally extend my deepest sympathy and encouragement to the people of Iran. Because, in truth, there is no such thing as a ‘world police',” he said.

Roy added that he hoped the war would not drag on, stressing that prolonged conflict benefits no one. “Hopefully this war will not be extended, because its impact is enormous, and Indonesia is also affected,” he emphasized.

Meanwhile, the aggression by Israel and the U.S. against Iran was linked to the situation in Palestine and efforts to subdue Gaza. Director of Friendship and Civilization Studies Foundation (YPSP), Ahed Abu Al-Atta, said Israel’s occupation aims to suppress all resistance movements in the region and expand its control.

“The Arab and Islamic world around it has become the target of this aggression, which seeks to advance the Zionist project of building a greater state. But we believe, God willing, this aggression will fail, and the occupation will be defeated this time,” Ahed asserted. (Diffa Sephiawardhani/Sri Wahyuni)
