Malaysia Pays Tribute to Late Indonesian Vice President Try Sutrisno

RRI.CO.ID, Jakarta - Malaysia has honored the legacy of Indonesia’s sixth Vice President General (Ret.) Try Sutrisno, recognizing his lifelong contributions to strengthening ties between the two nations.
In a statement released by Malaysian Ministry of Foreign Affairs on Thursday, March 5, 2026, in Kuala Lumpur, Deputy Foreign Minister Dato’ Lukanisman bin Awang Sauni conveyed deep condolences on behalf of the Malaysian government and people.
“Malaysia extends heartfelt sympathy to the government and people of the Republic of Indonesia and pays tribute to the late statesman for his significant role in fostering Malaysia–Indonesia relations,” the statement read.
On Wednesday, March 4, Lukanisman signed the condolence book at the Indonesian Embassy in Kuala Lumpur following Try Sutrisno’s passing. Earlier, Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim also expressed sorrow, describing the late Vice President as a true statesman.
Try Sutrisno passed away on Monday, March 2, 2026, at the Gatot Soebroto Army Central Hospital (RSPAD) in Jakarta at around 7 a.m. local time. He was laid to rest at the National Heroes Cemetery (TMP) Kalibata in Jakarta with full military honors, led by Indonesia’s eighth President, Prabowo Subianto. ***
