RRI.CO.ID, Iran - Amid escalating attacks between Iran, Israel, and the United States, the Indonesian Embassy in Tehran has ensured that Indonesian citizens remain safe and under control. Indonesia has also reaffirmed its principle of non-interference in Iran’s political dynamics following the reported death of Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei.

Indonesian Ambassador to Iran and Turkmenistan, Roy Soemirat, stated that all Indonesian nationals currently residing in Iran are in a secure condition despite the intensifying armed conflict. Speaking during the VOI Talk program with RRI Voice of Indonesia on Monday 3 March 2026, he said the embassy continues to closely monitor the situation.

Ambassador Roy explained that the embassy has maintained active communication with Indonesian citizens through various available channels to ensure their safety and well-being. He added that regular updates are being exchanged to anticipate any potential developments on the ground.

“I still have the luxury to communicate with them through several channels of communication; our citizens mentioned that they are still in a safe and secure condition,” Roy said.

Regarding the rapidly evolving political situation in Iran, Ambassador Roy emphasized Indonesia’s longstanding foreign policy principle of respecting national sovereignty. He stressed that Indonesia does not interfere in the domestic affairs of other countries.

“For Indonesia, we are not in the business of interfering with other countries' so-called situations. For Iran, it's going to be up to the Iranians themselves to determine their future,” he stated, adding that Indonesia remains ready to offer support should the Iranian government request assistance.

Meanwhile, Iranian news agencies confirmed the death of Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, who reportedly died following airstrikes carried out by the United States and Israeli military forces on several targets in Tehran. The strikes marked a significant escalation in the ongoing confrontation.

According to information from the Iranian government, President Masoud Pezeshkian, along with two other senior officials, will lead the country during a transitional period following Khamenei’s death. Indonesia, through its embassy in Tehran, continues to observe developments closely while prioritizing the safety of its citizens.
