RRI.CO.ID, Abu Dhabi – The Indonesian Embassy in Abu Dhabi issued an important appeal to all Indonesian citizens via its Facebook page on Tuesday, March 3, 2026. This appeal is related to the rules on the dissemination of information in the United Arab Emirates (UAE).

This refers to an official warning from the UAE Public Prosecution Authority. The warning was issued on February 28, 2026.

The Indonesian Embassy asks citizens not to upload or share rumors and fake news. This prohibition applies to all social media or other technological means. The dissemination of content whose accuracy is uncertain can cause unrest among the public. In addition, such actions have the potential to violate the laws in force in the UAE.

The Indonesian Embassy also emphasized the legal responsibility of each individual. Anyone who forwards content from an unclear source can still be prosecuted.

“Despite not being the original creator of the content,” the official statement from the Indonesian Embassy stated in Abu Dhabi. This serves as a reminder for Indonesian citizens to be more vigilant.

The public is also asked to follow official accounts such as @uaegov or @wamnews for accurate information. The media accounts of each Emirate can also be used as primary references.

This measure was taken to maintain security, stability, and mutual safety. “The Indonesian Embassy in Abu Dhabi reminds the whole Indonesian citizens to always be cautious in using social media,” the statement concluded.
