His remarks came in response to public concern over government measures amid escalating tensions in the country.

“People often jump straight to evacuation. But this is not about speed; fast does not always mean right. Every step must go through a process,” Roy said, Monday, March 2, 2026, as quoted by Antara.

He explained that the Indonesian Embassy in Tehran is maintaining intensive communication with citizens and conducting thorough security assessments before deciding on strategic actions.

This approach, he said, is crucial to avoid exposing citizens to greater risks, given that conditions in Iran remain fluid and safe exit routes cannot yet be guaranteed. Roy noted that communication in Iran is still limited, making it challenging to gather citizens at designated points or determine safe travel routes.

Comparative studies with other countries are being considered to ensure the best possible decisions. “If we act quickly but inaccurately, it defeats the purpose. What we think is safe may actually endanger lives,” he cautioned.

Despite recent airstrikes, Roy described Tehran as relatively calm and livable, with daily activities continuing, though the city is quieter due to a week-long national holiday following the death of Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei.

He stressed that the government’s next steps will depend on how the situation develops, adding that he remains in close coordination with Foreign Minister Sugiono. “Please trust that our current measures are based on comprehensive assessment.
