RRI.CO.ID, Jakarta - The spirit of Ramadan is serving as a bridge for cultural and intellectual exchange between Indonesia and Tunisia. At the Ramadan Study Day hosted by the Faculty of Ushuluddin at Ez-Zitouna University in Tunis, Indonesian Ambassador Zuhairi Misrawi emphasized the event’s strategic role in deepening social and academic relations between the two nations.

“Ramadan Study Day carries strategic value in strengthening social and intellectual ties between Indonesia and Tunisia,” Ambassador Zuhairi said in his remarks at the gathering, held at Al-Aqsha Square of Ez-Zitouna University on Saturday, February 28, 2026, according to a press release issued Sunday evening, March 1, as quoted by Antara.

The ambassador described Ramadhan as a “school of life” that cultivates discipline, patience, honesty, and social empathy. Practices nurtured during the holy month -- such as time management, devotion, sharing with others, and maintaining bonds of friendship -- should continue beyond Ramadan, he added.

The joint program brought together Tunisian academics and students with Indonesian participants, creating what Zuhairi called a tangible bridge of friendship that extends beyond diplomacy into cultural and spiritual dimensions. The event blended scholarship, spirituality, and fraternity across nations, while also showcasing the diversity of cultures, languages, and traditions among the diasporas.

The program opened with Qur’an recitation and featured addresses from university leaders, including Ez-Zitouna Rector Abdul Latif Bouazizi and faculty representative Hadi Tamimy. In his speech, Tamimy highlighted Ramadan’s role in shaping individual character and underscored the importance of such gatherings in fostering unity among diaspora communities from different countries. ***
