RRI.CO.ID, Jakarta - The Iranian Embassy in Jakarta has called on Indonesia to take a firmer position against what it describes as aggression by the United States and Israel, while also expressing appreciation for President Prabowo Subianto’s willingness to mediate between Tehran and Washington.
In a statement released Sunday, March 1, 2026, the embassy praised both the Indonesian government and its people for their support, but urged officials to issue clear condemnations of actions it claims violate the UN Charter, international law, and humanitarian principles.
“Iran’s hostility with America is not new; it is rooted in seven decades of history,” the embassy stated, as quoted by Antara, citing the 1953 coup in Tehran as the starting point of U.S. interference.
The statement accused Washington of multiple violations, including a direct strike on Iran’s nuclear facilities in June 2025. It further alleged that both the U.S. and Israel exploited peaceful demonstrations in January 2026, which later spiraled into unrest and violence.
The embassy said the situation reached its most devastating point with a Saturday morning attack that killed Iran’s Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei. According to the statement, the assault also struck civilian areas, including schools, leaving casualties among children. ***
