FM Strengthens Protection of Indonesians Amid Middle East Escalation

RRI.CO.ID, Jakarta – Indonesia Ministry of Foreign Affairs stated that it continues to monitor security developments in the Middle East and enhance coordination with Indonesian citizens (WNI) in affected areas. The advisory follows attacks carried out by the United States and Israel on Tehran, Iran, on Saturday, February 28, 2026.
In an official statement issued in Jakarta on Sunday, March 1, 2026, the Indonesia Ministry of Foreign Affairs said that the Directorate for the Protection of Indonesian Citizens (PWNI), together with all Indonesian missions in the Middle East, has maintained intensive communication and coordination with Indonesians within their respective jurisdictions.
Indonesian embassies in the region have also urged all Indonesians in affected areas to remain calm, increase vigilance, follow instructions from local authorities, and maintain regular communication with the nearest Indonesian mission.

The Foreign Ministry also urged Indonesians planning to travel through or transit in the Middle East to reconsider their travel plans and postpone their departure until the situation becomes more conducive. The Ministry, along with all Indonesian missions in the region, will continue to monitor and conduct comprehensive assessments of security dynamics, actual conditions on the ground, as well as ongoing and planned response measures to address future developments.
