RRI.CO.ID, Jakarta - Indonesia is maintaining its highest alert status for citizens in Iran as tensions between Iran and the United States continue to escalate, prompting authorities to keep evacuation plans ready while monitoring the safety of Indonesians in the country.

Acting Director for the Protection of Indonesian Citizens at the Foreign Ministry, Heni Hamidah, said the Alert Level I status has remained in effect since June 2025 and continues to be enforced.

“The Alert Level I status for Iran, which has been in place since June 2025, is still being enforced. All contingency plans have been prepared, including various evacuation route options if needed,” Heni said during a press briefing in Jakarta on Friday, February 27, 2026.

The Indonesian Embassy in Tehran, KBRI Tehran, continues to closely monitor developments and maintain regular communication with Indonesian nationals. So far, no Indonesians have been reported facing direct threats or dangerous situations.

Heni added that conditions in several Iranian cities remain normal and conducive, with international and domestic airports continuing to operate normally.

Tensions between Iran and the United States have increased amid ongoing disputes over Tehran’s nuclear program. According to reports, Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian has vowed not to yield to US pressure after US President Donald Trump said Washington was considering limited military action to push for a nuclear agreement.

The United States has also strengthened its military presence in the Gulf, deploying aircraft carriers and fighter jets, while indirect negotiations between Iran and the United States mediated by Oman have continued.

Omani Foreign Minister Badr bin Hamad Al Busaidi said Iran had agreed not to stockpile enriched uranium, describing the development as a major breakthrough. He expressed optimism that remaining issues could be resolved peacefully in the coming months.

Indonesia’s Foreign Ministry said it will continue monitoring the situation closely and coordinating with its embassy to ensure the safety of Indonesian nationals while keeping evacuation plans ready if conditions worsen. (Gusti Panji/Lasti Martina)
