RRI.CO.ID, Jakarta – The Indonesian government expressed deep regret over the failure of negotiations between the United States and Iran. It said the breakdown in talks had led to military escalation in the Middle East following the attack in Tehran, Iran.

In a statement issued by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and received in Jakarta on Saturday, 28 February 2026, Indonesia called on all parties to exercise restraint and prioritize dialogue and diplomacy to prevent further escalation.

Indonesia also reiterated the importance of respecting the sovereignty and territorial integrity of all countries and resolving differences through peaceful means in accordance with international law. The Government of Indonesia, represented by the President of the Republic of Indonesia, also expressed its readiness to facilitate dialogue in order to help restore a conducive security situation.

“And if agreed by both parties, the President of Indonesia is willing to travel to Tehran to conduct mediation,” the Foreign Ministry wrote on its X account.

According to the Indonesian government, rising tensions in the Middle East have the potential to disrupt regional stability as well as global peace and security.

In relation to the situation, Indonesian citizens in affected areas are advised to remain calm and vigilant, follow the instructions of local authorities, and maintain communication with the nearest Indonesian representative offices.
