RRI.CO.ID, Geneva — Indonesia's Minister of Foreign Affairs, Sugiono, stressed that the advancement of human rights must begin with ensuring dignity in daily life, including access to food, healthcare, security, and economic opportunities for the public.

“We believe that human rights begin with dignity in everyday life, when children can learn without hunger, families can access healthcare, communities feel safe, and opportunities are within reach,” Sugiono stated at the 61st session of the United Nations Human Rights Council in Geneva, Switzerland, Monday, 23 February 2026.

He also added that under the leadership of President Prabowo Subianto, Indonesia continues its national transformation to advance social justice by expanding access to nutritious food, healthcare services, housing, education, and economic empowerment. According to Sugiono, expanding access is not merely a matter of policy design but represents the realization of people’s fundamental rights.

“Indonesia continues its national transformation to advance social justice. Expanding access to nutritious food, healthcare, housing, education, and economic empowerment is not merely a matter of policy design,” he said.

He further noted that the Indonesian government continues to promote social justice as part of realizing citizens’ basic rights. To strengthen this commitment, Indonesia is developing the sixth generation of its National Human Rights Action Plan, designed to enhance inter-ministerial coordination, improve accountability, and ensure that the promotion and protection of human rights are measurable and sustainable.

Indonesia also reaffirmed close cooperation with national human rights institutions to advance the protection and promotion of human rights in line with national priorities and international norms.
