RRI.CO.ID, Washington D.C. - Indonesia's Foreign Minister, Sugiono, held a bilateral meeting with United States Secretary of State Marco Rubio at the US Department of State on Wednesday, 19 February 19, 2026. The meeting took place in an open and constructive atmosphere, focusing on strengthening the Indonesia–US Comprehensive Strategic Partnership.

The two foreign ministers discussed a number of priority agendas, including cooperation in trade and investment, defense and security, energy, as well as regional and global dynamics.

In the economic sector, discussions covered efforts to strengthen more balanced and mutually beneficial trade relations, including encouraging the implementation of reciprocal trade agreements in the agriculture and energy sectors.

“We want to ensure that the Indonesia–US economic partnership becomes stronger, more balanced, and delivers concrete benefits for both countries,” Sugiono said.

The two ministers also exchanged views on the situation in Gaza, Palestine. Rubio expressed appreciation for Indonesia’s active participation in the Board of Peace and its contribution to stabilization and reconstruction efforts in Gaza. In response, Sugiono emphasized the importance of the Board of Peace in ensuring the protection of civilians and open humanitarian access in Gaza, as well as ensuring that all stabilization efforts lead toward a just and sustainable peace.

“Stabilization efforts must be part of the pathway toward sustainable peace through the Two-State Solution,” Sugiono said.

The meeting reflects both countries’ commitment to strengthening strategic dialogue and deepening cross-sector collaboration. Indonesia and the United States agreed to maintain close communication to ensure that the bilateral partnership remains strong, adaptive, and relevant in addressing regional and global dynamics.
