RRI.CO.ID, Jakarta - Indonesia is stepping up humanitarian solidarity with Sudan, as the National Alms Agency (BAZNAS) hosted Sudan’s Ambassador to Indonesia, Yassir Mohamed Ali Mohamed, for an official visit at its Jakarta headquarters on Friday, February 20, 2026. The meeting focused on Sudan’s ongoing crisis and plans for strategic collaboration to deliver aid.

BAZNAS Chairman Noor Achmad expressed deep concern over the humanitarian situation in Sudan, stressing Indonesia’s commitment to supporting those affected.

“We cannot allow our brothers and sisters in Sudan to struggle alone amid this conflict. As a nation that upholds humanitarian values, BAZNAS is committed to mobilizing assistance,” he said in a statement on Saturday, February 21, as quoted by Antara.

Noor highlighted the urgency of aid in the health sector, citing reports of severe medical shortages and emergency conditions. He reaffirmed BAZNAS' readiness to continue leading fundraising efforts and intensify public campaigns to expand support.

“Providing medical facilities and essential medicines is critical. We want to ensure that the trust of the Indonesian people is delivered effectively and becomes a source of hope for Sudan’s recovery,” he added.

Ambassador Yassir Mohamed Ali Mohamed conveyed his gratitude for Indonesia’s solidarity, noting that future cooperation with BAZNAS should prioritize rebuilding hospitals and supplying medical equipment.

He underscored the scale of the crisis, which has claimed more than 200,000 lives, particularly among women and children. “We hope this partnership will help reduce fatalities and strengthen Sudan’s health sector,” the ambassador said.

The visit reaffirmed both sides’ commitment to enhancing humanitarian collaboration, with a focus on health recovery and long-term resilience for communities in Sudan. ***
