RRI.CO.ID, Jakarta - Indonesia and Russia are moving to deepen cooperation in higher education and research, as the Bauman Moscow State Technical University (BMSTU) delegation paid an official visit to the Ministry of Higher Education, Science, and Technology in Jakarta on Thursday, February 19, 2026.
Minister of Higher Education, Science, and Technology Brian Yuliarto expressed appreciation for Russia’s scholarship contributions, which are expected to be integrated into Indonesia’s Garuda Scholarship program.
He noted that the partnership could pave the way for joint research initiatives aligned with Indonesia’s eight national priorities, as well as student and faculty exchanges.
“We hope to begin concrete joint research programs soon, including professor exchanges, academic visits, and co-supervision for doctoral studies,” Minister Brian said in a statement released Saturday, Frbuary 21.
BMSTU Rector Mikhail Gordin explained that his delegation’s visit aimed to explore opportunities for collaboration and international student recruitment.
He highlighted special quotas offered by BMSTU, with selection processes facilitated by Russia’s official representatives in Indonesia. The additional quotas will focus on two-year master’s programs and doctoral studies involving intensive laboratory research alongside professors and engineers.
Gordin emphasized BMSTU’s strengths in robotics, quantum computing, space technology, smart manufacturing, and green technologies. “We have allocated additional quotas specifically for our university, primarily for master’s and postdoctoral programs,” he said. ***
