RRI.CO.ID, Jakarta - Indonesia will highlight the issue of Israel’s seizure of West Bank territory in the inaugural Board of Peace meeting in Washington DC on Thursday, 19 February 2026, local time. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Indonesia has confirmed that the country will highlight the issue of Israel’s expansion of the seizure of West Bank territory in the inaugural meeting of the Board of Peace (BoP) in Washington DC.
Indonesia's Foreign Ministry spokesperson Vahd Nabyl A. Mulachela, during a press briefing in Jakarta on Thursday, said that Foreign Minister Sugiono had previously conveyed Indonesia’s concern over Israel’s actions during a United Nations Security Council (UNSC) meeting on Wednesday, 18 February 2026.
“On 18 February, the Foreign Minister conveyed his concern regarding the situation in the West Bank. If the conditions there are not addressed and stopped, it could affect the prospects for a two-state solution. This issue will certainly be discussed again at the BoP meeting,” Nabyl said.
Nabyl also emphasized that Indonesia’s involvement in the Board of Peace (BoP) is based on efforts to support peace in Palestine and in accordance with Security Council resolutions.
“Indonesia’s involvement in the BoP has a background related to the process of supporting peace in Palestine and is based on Security Council resolutions. This means that Indonesia’s participation should be understood within that context, so the roles we carry out will remain consistent with those principles,” he said.
In a joint statement released by Kemlu via its official X account on Tuesday, 17 February 2026, Foreign Minister, Sugiono, along with counterparts from Egypt, Jordan, Pakistan, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Turkey, and the United Arab Emirates, strongly condemned Israel’s decision to designate the occupied areas of the West Bank as “state land.”
Meanwhile, regarding other issues to be raised by Indonesia at the first meeting of Board of Peace member states on Thursday, Foreign Minister Sugiono highlighted the importance of alignment between the Board of Peace and the UNSC.
According to him, the UN Security Council and the Board of Peace have complementary mandates and channels in promoting peace in the Gaza Strip, so the two bodies must not work at cross purposes.
President Prabowo Subianto is scheduled to attend the meeting of heads of state of Board of Peace member countries in Washington DC on Thursday, local time. The meeting marks the first gathering since the signing of the Board of Peace Charter on 22 January 2026.
