Ysys RRI.CO.ID, Jakarta - Indonesia has secured Palestinian consent before committing troops to a proposed international stabilization mission in Gaza, underscoring that its involvement will focus strictly on humanitarian tasks rather than combat operations.

The Indonesian Foreign Affairs Ministry confirmed that consultations were held with Palestinian representatives following Jakarta’s decision to contribute personnel to the International Stabilization Force (ISF) for Gaza.

“Regarding involvement with the ISF, we have also consulted with the Palestinian side, including through a meeting with the Permanent Observer of Palestine to the United Nations in New York,” Foreign Affairs Ministry spokesperson Vahd Nabyl A. Mulachela said during a media briefing in Jakarta on Thursday, February 19, 2026, as quoted by Antara.

His remarks came in response to reports that the Palestinian militant group Hamas had expressed criticism over the presence of foreign troops in Gaza, voicing concern that such forces should not advance what they described as Israel’s Zionist agenda.

The spokesperson said Indonesia continues to engage in dialogue and consultation with Palestinian authorities concerning the deployment of Indonesian personnel to Gaza.

“Indonesia’s participation in the ISF is also carried out with the approval of the Palestinian side,” he added.

He stressed that Indonesia will retain full control over its deployed personnel and that they will not take part in combat missions or demilitarization efforts in Gaza.

Instead, Indonesian personnel assigned to the ISF will focus on humanitarian responsibilities, including reconstruction and infrastructure recovery, civilian protection, and the provision of health services to Gaza’s population.

“One very important point is that this is carried out with the consent of the Palestinian side, making it a unified prerequisite for Indonesia’s involvement in the ISF,” he continued.

Details regarding the exact number of personnel to be deployed, the timing of mobilization, and potential budget allocations are still under discussion, he said.

The establishment of the ISF is based on United Nations Security Council Resolution 2803, adopted on November 17, 2025. The unified force will operate under the Board of Peace (BoP), formed under U.S. President Donald Trump.

Under the resolution, the ISF is tasked with helping secure border areas, stabilizing the security environment in Gaza by ensuring demilitarization processes, protecting civilians, and coordinating with relevant countries to safeguard humanitarian corridors. ***
