RRI.CO.ID, Jakarta - Local palm sugar from Pacitan, East Java, is set to reach international markets as the Indonesian Villages and Underdeveloped Regions Ministry officially launched exports to Malaysia, the Netherlands, and Australia.

Minister of Villages and Underdeveloped Regions Yandri Susanto oversaw the ceremonial export release on Thursday, February 12, 2026, in Temon Village, Arjosari Subdistrict, emphasizing the potential for rural products to become globally recognized.

“This is an extraordinary moment, the export of organic palm sugar to three countries. In shaa Allah, other exports from Pacitan will follow, bringing the region more international recognition,” Minister Yandri said, as quoted on the ministry's official website, addressing attendees during the launch.

The minister highlighted the importance of community involvement, praising local stakeholders for their contributions and encouraging villagers to actively participate in creative economic activities. He stressed that local engagement helps ensure sustainable management of village lands with high economic potential.

He also underscored the value of traditional cooperation, or gotong royong, to maximize local resources, both in manpower and materials, for the village’s economic development, including through village markets. “I highly appreciate the outstanding collaboration from the Village Head, PT Astra, local administration, and related institutions. This is not an easy work, without teamwork, it would not be possible. We are not Superman, but a Superteam,” the minister remarked.

He added that sustaining exports requires careful attention to production continuity and logistics, ensuring village products can compete consistently in global markets. Quality, packaging, and certification are crucial factors for long-term success. “Exporting is not a one- or two-month task. Buyers come with specific expectations, quality, quantity, and consistency,” he emphasized. ***
