RRI.CO.ID, Jakarta – Indonesia’s Minister of Women’s Empowerment and Child Protection, Arifatul Choiri Fauzi, affirmed cooperation between Indonesia and Iran on women and children at a diplomatic reception in Jakarta on Tuesday, 10 February 2026. During her remarks, representing the national government, she said Indonesia and Iran have cultivated a relationship over 70 years grounded in "mutual respect, sovereignty, and constructive engagement".
"The endurance of this partnership stands as a testament to the strength and maturity of our bilateral peace amid an increasingly complex regional and global dynamic," she said.
The minister also said that in the current global context, marked by geopolitical, humanitarian, and social challenges, the importance of protecting vulnerable groups and empowering women has become even more evident. At the core of Indonesia and Iran partnership, he said, is a shared conviction that diplomacy should serve not only national interests, but also the well-being of societies, particularly women, children, and families.
"Against this background, Indonesia places great value in growing partnerships with the Islamic Republic of Iran in the field of women empowerment and child protection as an essential component of inclusive and resilient societies," she said.
She referred to a bilateral agreement signed in 2018 that reflects a shared commitment to addressing the evolving challenges faced by women and children. The agreement was signed by the country's Minister of Women Empowerment and Child Protection, Meutia Hatta, and the Iranian counterparts.

The agreement provided a solid and forward-looking framework for cooperation in promoting women's empowerment, strengthening child protection systems, and enhancing family resilience based on the principles of equality, mutual respect, and mutual benefit.
Fauzi said Indonesia "firmly believes" that empowering women and ensuring the protection of children are strategic investments in sustainable development, social cohesion, and national resilience. Therefore, she expressed appreciation for Iran’s willingness to cooperate on those issues, as well as hope for further cooperation.
"We therefore appreciate Iran's openness to dialogue and partnership in this important field, and we look forward to further sustaining and developing our cooperation, translating self-commitment into concrete and impactful outcomes," she said.
The Iranian Embassy in Jakarta held the diplomatic reception to commemorate the 47th Iranian Revolution Victory Day. The day, set every 11 February, marks the beginning of the establishment of Iran’s Shiite-oriented Islamic republic government in 1979.
