RRI.CO.ID, Jakarta - Indonesia is moving forward with preparations to send security forces to Gaza, Palestine, as part of the International Stabilization Force (ISF) established under a United Nations mandate.

Indonesian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Vahd Nabyl A. Mulachela confirmed on Tuesday in Jakarta that planning is underway, though details remain fluid.

“Indonesia is indeed preparing for the deployment. The timeline is not yet definitive, nor is the number of personnel, but the process is ongoing,” he said, as quoted by Antara.

He emphasized that the mission requires coordination not only among domestic ministries and agencies but also with international partners. “The Foreign Ministry, together with all relevant institutions, is working to implement the President’s directive,” the spokesperson added.

According to him, Indonesia’s involvement in the ISF will focus primarily on humanitarian aspects, rather than disarmament operations.

The announcement follows reports from Israeli media suggesting that field preparations for the Indonesian deployment have already begun in southern Gaza, with estimates that several thousand troops could eventually be involved after initial logistics and planning phases.

The ISF was authorized by the UN Security Council on November 17, 2025, through Resolution 2803, drafted by the United States and supported by 13 council members. Russia and China abstained after proposing an alternative resolution.

Under the resolution, the ISF is tasked with securing border areas and stabilizing Gaza’s security environment; supporting demilitarization efforts in the territory; protecting civilians; and coordinating with regional actors to safeguard humanitarian corridors.

The force will operate under the strategic guidance of the Board of Peace (BoP), with funding drawn from voluntary donor contributions, BoP resources, and participating governments. ***
