RRI.CO.ID, Jakarta - Radio Republik Indonesia (RRI) welcomed the arrival of the Deputy Minister of Communications and Multimedia of Malaysia, Teo Nie Ching, along with the Malaysian delegation in Jakarta, Tuesday, 10 February 2026. This visit is part of efforts to strengthen Indonesia-Malaysia bilateral relations, particularly in the development of cooperation in the broadcasting and public media sectors.
During the visit, Teo Nie Ching emphasized that Indonesia and Malaysia have a deep affinity, both in terms of culture, language, and the history of diplomatic relations. "I believe that we share the same culture and language, so there are actually many collaborative opportunities that can be established," said Teo during the meeting at RRI.
She explained that the potential for collaboration is not only limited to cultural content but also includes the news sector and information exchange. "Not only content in terms of culture but also about news and I feel that we are very close partners," she said.
Furthermore, Teo mentioned the close relationship between the President of the Republic of Indonesia and the Prime Minister of Malaysia, Dato’ Seri Anwar Ibrahim, which he deemed an important foundation for cross-sector cooperation. “We see that the relationship between the President and Prime Minister Dato’ Seri Anwar Ibrahim is very good,” he said, while noting that this relationship has a positive impact on the media collaboration between the two countries.
However, Teo emphasized that a strong bilateral relationship should not only be built at the government level. "We do not want this close relationship to be limited to government to government. What is more important is that we also need to ensure that the people-to-people relationship is very good and close," she explained.
Regarding public broadcasting cooperation, Teo expressed his hope that the collaboration between RRI and Radio Televisyen Malaysia (RTM) could provide tangible benefits to the community. "The cooperation between Radio Republic Indonesia and Radio Televisyen Malaysia (RTM) not only brings benefits to radio stations or broadcasting agencies, but it is actually a cooperation for the people of Malaysia and also for the people of Indonesia," she said.
After the agenda at RRI, Teo Nie Ching and the Malaysian delegation continued their visit to the Ministry of Communications and Digital (Komdigi). This visit is part of a series of bilateral cooperation in the field of communication and media, while also reaffirming Malaysia's commitment to supporting the strengthening of the press and media collaboration with Indonesia.
