RRI.CO.ID, Jakarta - Indonesia’s National Alms Agency (Baznas) is intensifying collaboration with the Indonesian Embassy in Cairo to ensure effective delivery of humanitarian assistance to Gaza, while also reinforcing support for Indonesian students in Egypt ahead of Ramadan 1447 Hijriah.

“Alhamdulillah, ahead of Ramadan, Baznas held a meeting with our ambassador in Egypt to discuss coordination on humanitarian aid for Palestinians affected by the conflict in Gaza,” said Baznas Chairman Noor Achmad in Jakarta on Tuesday, February 10, 2026, as quoted by Antara.

The meeting, held in Cairo on Sunday, February 8, addressed several key issues, including aid distribution through humanitarian partners in Egypt, cash assistance for Gaza residents, and scholarships under the Baznas Cendekia program for 503 students.

Discussions also touched on the establishment of a dedicated directorate for student affairs, given that more than 15,000 Indonesians are currently studying in Egypt.

Noor Achmad further highlighted the importance of reorganizing the Baznas Cendekia Secretariat and proposed the creation of a Baznas Health House in Egypt to support student welfare.

Indonesian Ambassador to Egypt Kuncoro Giri Waseso welcomed Baznas’ initiatives, noting additional support such as two buses for Seat In Coach (SIC) services. He added that the Ministry of Foreign Affairs’ Middle East Directorate will soon invite Baznas to Bogor, West Java, for a mapping session on Gaza aid.

“With the Rafah crossing beginning to reopen, we hope assistance can reach Gaza more smoothly,” Kuncoro said. ***
