RRI.CO.ID, Jakarta - Indonesian Foreign Minister Sugiono has strongly condemned Israel’s decision to impose unlawful sovereignty in the occupied West Bank, calling the move an acceleration of illegal annexation efforts.
The statement was delivered jointly with the foreign ministers of Egypt, Jordan, Pakistan, Saudi Arabia, Turkiye, the United Arab Emirates, and Qatar, and published by the Indonesian Ministry of Foreign Affairs on social media platform X on Monday, February 9, 2026.
“The foreign ministers strongly condemn Israel’s illegal decisions and actions aimed at imposing unlawful sovereignty, expanding settlement activity, and enforcing new legal and administrative realities in the occupied West Bank,” the joint declaration read, as quoted by Antara.
“These measures are seen as accelerating illegal annexation and the displacement of the Palestinian people. The ministers reaffirmed that Israel has no sovereignty over the occupied Palestinian territories,” the statement continued.
The ministers warned that Israel’s expansionist policies and illegal steps in the West Bank risk fueling violence and conflict in the region.
“The ministers expressed absolute rejection of these illegal actions, which constitute a blatant violation of international law and undermine the two-state solution,” the declaration stated.
They further stressed that Israel’s actions represent an assault on the inalienable rights of the Palestinian people to establish an independent and sovereign state based on the June 4, 1967 borders, with East Jerusalem as its capital.
“Such measures also weaken ongoing efforts to achieve peace and stability in the region,” the ministers said.
The joint statement emphasized that Israel’s policies in the West Bank carry no legal validity and violate UN Security Council Resolution 2334, which denounces all Israeli attempts to alter the demographic composition, character, and status of occupied Palestinian territories since 1967, including East Jerusalem.
The ministers also referred to the 2024 advisory opinion of the International Court of Justice, which declared Israel’s policies and practices in the occupied Palestinian territories illegal, underscoring the need to end the occupation and nullify annexation.
They urged the international community to uphold its legal and moral responsibilities, pressing Israel to halt dangerous escalations in the West Bank and provocative statements by its officials.
The ministers reaffirmed that the fulfillment of the Palestinian people’s right to self-determination and statehood, through a two-state solution in line with international resolutions and the Arab Peace Initiative, remains the only path toward a just peace and regional stability. ***
