RRI.CO.ID, Jakarta - Indonesian Minister of Women’s Empowerment and Child Protection (PPPA), Arifah Fauzi, has reinforced international cooperation with a Kuwaiti delegation to advance women’s empowerment and child protection initiatives.

“This meeting marks an important momentum to deepen collaboration between Indonesia and Kuwait, particularly in efforts to empower women and protect children through concrete and sustainable cooperation,” Arifah said in Jakarta on Monday, February 9, 2026, as quoted by Antara.

She emphasized that family-based parenting must remain the foundation of child protection, warning that weakened parenting patterns, the influence of social media, and reduced social interaction could significantly affect children’s development.

In education, Minister Arifah highlighted the critical role of teachers in remote areas, who often face limited welfare and inadequate facilities. Strengthening support for educators, she noted, is essential to ensure children continue to receive quality education.

Both sides also discussed potential collaboration to enhance the capacity of madrasa (Islamic schools) teachers in remote regions through pilot programs aimed at improving teacher welfare and upgrading educational infrastructure.

“We could start projects in remote areas where teachers remain highly dedicated despite limited resources. Strengthening these teachers will allow them to focus on teaching,” the Minister said.

Special attention was also given to children whose parents work abroad, as well as to women and children in disaster-affected areas. Programs for trauma healing and women’s economic empowerment were highlighted, with Aceh identified as a priority region.

Meanwhile, Director General of Kuwait’s International Islamic Charitable Organization (IICO), Badr Saud Al-Sumait, noted shared priorities between IICO and the Indonesian ministry.

“We share the same concerns with the PPPA Ministry, including the significant influence of social media. Forums like this open opportunities for cooperation in education and economic initiatives focused on women and children,” he said. ***
