Australian PM Albanese Arrived in Jakarta to Strengthen Partnership

RRI.CO.ID, Jakarta - Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese began an official visit to Indonesia on Thursday evening, February 5, 2026, arriving in Jakarta as part of efforts to strengthen the strategic partnership between the two neighboring countries.

Albanese landed at Halim Perdanakusuma Air Force Base at around 6:50 p.m. local time on Thursday, Antara reported, marking the start of his working visit to Indonesia.

Upon arrival, the Australian Prime Minister was welcomed by Indonesian Foreign Affairs Minister Sugiono, Minister of Investment and Downstream Industries Rosan Roeslani, Australian Ambassador to Indonesia Rod Brazier, Indonesian Ambassador to Australia Siswo Pramono, and Australian Defense Attache Brigadier Micah Batt.

The welcoming ceremony was held with full honors, featuring a guard of honor lined up along the reception route leading to the official vehicle. The atmosphere was further enlivened by a marching band performance as Albanese passed through the honor guard, symbolizing Indonesia’s formal reception of a visiting head of state.

Following the ceremony, Albanese and a limited delegation proceeded directly to their hotel, where he will stay during his visit to Jakarta.

As part of his official agenda, PM Albanese is scheduled to be formally received by Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto at the Merdeka Palace on Friday, February 6. The meeting is expected to further reinforce Indonesia-Australia strategic cooperation across various sectors. ***
