Indonesia, Venezuela Strengthen Energy Partnership

RRI.CO.ID, Caracas - In a bid to reinforce the strategic energy alliance between Indonesia and Venezuela, a delegation from PT Pertamina Internasional Eksplorasi dan Produksi (PIEP), led by President Director Syamsu Yudha, met with Venezuela’s Acting President Delcy Rodríguez at the Miraflores Presidential Palace on January 29, 2026.

Quoting the Indonesian Ministry of Foreign Affairs official website, the meeting was also attended by Indonesian Ambassador to Venezuela, Fikry Cassidy; National Assembly President Jorge Rodríguez; Vice President for Economic Affairs Calixto Ortega; Minister of Economy and Finance Anabel Pereira Fernández; and PDVSA President Héctor Obregón.

The discussions underscored Indonesia’s commitment to positioning itself as a key strategic partner for Venezuela in the energy sector. Central to the agenda was ensuring the sustainability of Pertamina’s operations in Venezuela, while also exploring new opportunities for collaboration in oil and gas.

Both sides expressed their intention to advance joint projects and strengthen cooperation under the framework of South-South collaboration, highlighting the importance of developing and expanding partnerships in natural resources.

Following the talks, Venezuelan authorities reaffirmed their commitment to providing a clear and stable regulatory framework, aimed at accelerating the implementation of projects outlined in the country’s national energy development agenda. ***
