RRI.CO.ID, Jakarta - In order to support the "Asta Cita" national development vision, Indonesia is hitting a new milestone in industrial workforce readiness. The Indonesia’s Ministry of Industry has announced the successful graduation of the first cohort of students from the Luban–Mozi College Program.

It is a yearly strategic vocational partnership between Indonesia and China designed to respond to global challenges and dynamics. This collaboration specifically targets the Smart Manufacturing sector, integrating advanced technologies like the Internet of Things (IoT) and Artificial Intelligence (AI) into the vocational curriculum.

According to the press release received by RRI VOI on Saturday, 31 January 2026, Minister of Industry Agus Gumiwang, stated that the government pushes the human resources industry to support sustainable national industrial growth.

"The availability of competent industrial human resources is one of the main drivers in increasing the competitiveness of national industry," the Minister of Industry stated in a written statement in Jakarta. On 20 January 2026, Indonesia successfully graduated 5,386 students from 22 vocational units in the program.

The data reflects a high-efficiency pipeline, with 68% graduates were hired upon receiving diplomas. The government also aims for a total absorption rate into the industrial sector within six months of graduation.

Meanwhile, Head of the Industrial Human Resources Development Board (BPSDMI), Doddy Rahadi, emphasized that Indonesia is no longer just providing "labor," but "smart talent."

"We believe that direct learning experiences in an industrial environment through international industrial work practices like this are an important part in forming smart talent who are ready to face the modern industrial era," he said.

The Luban-Mozi College program serves as an initial step for how Indonesia plans to support Foreign Direct Investment (FDI). By partnering with the Sailun Group (a global tire manufacturing giant) and Qingdao Technical College (QTC), Indonesia is ensuring that its workforce is trained specifically for the high-tech requirements of multinational investors.

Key highlights of the program include, students from the Politeknik ATK Yogyakarta (specializing in leather, rubber, and plastics) underwent intensive training in China. Graduates achieved HSK Level 3 and 4 Mandarin proficiency alongside technical certifications in smart manufacturing.

President of QTC Xing Guanlu described the program as a strategic step in international integration between industry and education. He hopes that the graduates will be professionals that are technically superior and have broad cultural insight.
