RRI.CO.ID, Bontang - The Indonesian Industrial Estates Association (HKI) and the Singapore Manufacturing Federation (SMF) collaboration officially launched a new era of bilateral manufacturing cooperation at a regional summit in Singapore on Friday, January 30, 2026.

This initiative was designed to bolster regional resilience and high-value job creation amid shifting global industrial trends. By integrating regional supply chains and focusing on downstream industrialization, the agreement provides a strategic bridge for Singaporean investment to flow into Indonesia’s integrated and efficient industrial estates.

In a statement confirmed in Bontang, East Kalimantan, HKI Chairperson Akhmad Ma'ruf Maulana explained that the HKI–SMF collaboration is designed to promote manufacturing investment and strengthen regional supply chain integration. The partnership also focuses on developing cooperation in innovation, technology transfer, and human resource capacity building to accelerate downstream industrial development.

As one of Southeast Asia's largest manufacturing bases, Indonesia's manufacturing sector contributes over 18 percent to the national Gross Domestic Product (GDP) and serves as the primary engine for exports and job creation. Supported by more than 175 industrial estates across strategic economic corridors, Indonesia continues to solidify its position as a regional production hub and a top destination for global industrial relocation.

Ma'ruf emphasized that this partnership would create broader opportunities for Singaporean companies to tap into the potential of Indonesia's vast industrial landscape. “This partnership serves as a strategic bridge to bring in quality investment, technology transfer, and industrial talent development; HKI is ready to facilitate Singaporean companies to grow together in Indonesia's integrated, efficient, and globally competitive industrial estates," he stated, as quoted by Antara.

The presence of Indonesian Deputy Minister of Industry Faisol Riza at the signing ceremony further underscored the government's commitment to deepening economic ties between the two nations.
