As Chair of the Australia Alumni Association (Ikama) South Sulawesi, Jamaluddin also noted that the experience of studying in Australia has had a profound influence on shaping the character, competence, and career paths of Indonesian alumni. He described Australian education as a vital foundation for their professional growth.
“The ten-year presence of the Australian Consulate General in Makassar reflects its active role in supporting administrative needs and strengthening ties between Australian alumni and stakeholders in South Sulawesi,” he added.
Speaking at the Australia Alumni Gala Dinner, Australian Consul General in Makassar Todd Dias said the event was not only a celebration but also a platform for collaboration, bringing together alumni from diverse backgrounds.
He explained that the gathering also served as an avenue to showcase opportunities for cooperation and business development initiated by alumni.
Through such initiatives, Dias expressed hope that the partnership between Indonesia and Australia, particularly in higher education, would continue to grow and be sustained in the future.
“The relationship between Australia and the people of Makassar has long been built on a foundation of strong friendship. This historical closeness is an important basis for strengthening bilateral ties, especially in Eastern Indonesia,” Dias remarked. ***
