Prabowo Affirms Indonesia's Strong Economy Amid Global Turmoil

RRI.CO.ID, Davos - President of the Republic of Indonesia Prabowo Subianto conveyed the condition and direction of Indonesia’s economy while speaking at the World Economic Forum (WEF) in Davos, Switzerland, on Thursday, 22 January 2026. The forum served as an opportunity for President Prabowo Subianto to express confidence in the resilience and prospects of Indonesia’s economy before world leaders and global investors at the annual World Economic Forum meeting in Davos.

This optimism is based on consistent economic performance, controlled inflation, and disciplined fiscal management, along with an investment-strengthening strategy through the sovereign wealth fund Danantara. He emphasized that Indonesia remains on a positive growth trajectory, despite the world facing geopolitical pressures and global economic uncertainty.

The International Monetary Fund (IMF) has positioned Indonesia as a bright spot for global economic growth amid external challenges. He stated that Indonesia’s economic growth has consistently remained above five percent over the past decade.

President Prabowo stressed that this growth is not merely optimism, but is supported by evidence and consistent governance. In his speech, President Prabowo explained the establishment of Danantara Indonesia as a sovereign wealth fund to support efficient capital management and allocation.

Danantara is said to have a financing and co-investment mandate for Indonesia’s future industries. President Prabowo stated that Danantara was established to finance and co-finance future industries and to support the national industrialization process.

President Prabowo’s speech at WEF 2026 reaffirmed Indonesia’s position as a country that upholds peace, stability, and responsible economic governance, while strengthening Indonesia’s role as a credible strategic partner in global economic and diplomatic affairs.

Furthermore, President Prabowo emphasized that the stability and peace enjoyed by Indonesia are the result of consistent policy choices, not merely coincidence. He affirmed that Indonesia has consistently chosen the path of unity and cooperation in facing various challenges.
