RRI.CO.ID, Jakarta - The Indonesian government has emphasized its participation in the “ Gaza Peace Board.” It aims to encourage an end to violence, protect civilians, and expand humanitarian access for the Palestinian people.
Spokesperson for the Indonesian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Vahd Nabyl Mulachela, said Indonesia’s decision to join the Gaza Peace Board is based on a strong commitment to supporting the Palestinian peace process, in line with United Nations Security Council Resolution 2803.
“Indonesia’s membership in the Board of Peace aims to encourage an end to violence, protect civilians, and expand humanitarian access for the Palestinian people in Gaza,” Nabyl stated during an online press conference in Jakarta, Thursday, 22 January 2026.
He said that the Board of Peace is a temporary mechanism focused on ending violence and protecting civilians. Therefore, there has so far been no discussion regarding payment obligations for member states, either for the three-year term or for permanent membership.
“We view the Board of Peace as a temporary mechanism. To date, there has been no discussion on payment obligations, whether for permanent membership or the three-year term,” he conveyed.
Earlier, United States President Donald Trump officially announced and signed the charter of the Board of Peace at the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland, on Thursday, 22 January 2026 local time. Several international media outlets reported that countries seeking permanent membership would be required to contribute a minimum of 1 billion US dollars in the first year.
Indonesia’s decision to join the Gaza Peace Board was announced through a joint statement by Indonesian Foreign Minister Sugiono and the foreign ministers of seven other countries, Türkiye, Egypt, Jordan, Pakistan, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, and the United Arab Emirates.
Nabyl added that Indonesia will use its membership to voice the interests of the Palestinian people and to push for concrete steps toward a sustainable ceasefire and a just peace process.
